Ingrid Romijn is the CEO of Q*Bird, a Delft-based leader in quantum-secure communications, building ultra-secure networks that safeguard critical infrastructure today and prepare organisations for the quantum internet of tomorrow. Under her leadership, Q*Bird serves critical infrastructure organisations across Europe including defense, finance and telecoms, securing their mission critical data against quantum threats.
Ingrid’s career bridges physics, research, program management and national strategy in quantum technologies. Before co-founding Q*Bird, she held leadership roles at QuTech and TU Delft, coordinating the Quantum Internet Division, and at TNO she advanced solar PV innovation as a researcher, project lead and program manager. She was instrumental in shaping the Dutch National Agenda for Quantum Technology (2019) and later helped build the National Quantum Network program (CAT-2) through Quantum Delta NL (2020–2022).
At Q*Bird, Ingrid is driving the transition from securing sensitive critical infrastructure including defense, finance and telecoms, to building global connectivity solutions that will link quantum processors, sensors and modems across industries and borders. Her vision is to make quantum-secure communication a pillar of digital trust, ensuring that societies and economies remain resilient in the quantum age. Beyond her role at Q*Bird, Ingrid serves on the Steering Board of Women in Quantum Development (WIQD), where she champions diversity and inclusion in the quantum technology ecosystem in the Netherlands. She holds a PhD in Physics and is deeply committed to leveraging breakthrough science to solve pressing societal challenges.
